Relaying? Dips in the formation are very prototypica! However it does look good and is definatley the right gauge. Hope your finger gets better as I know its hard to play any instrument with a bashed or burnt finger especialy the guitar!

Totally agree with you there, the trouble was though that it was more like a fairground "Big Dipper" than an undulating narrow gauge railway

At last some track is back in place, with the majority of the civil engineering done it'll be the turn of the P.Way team next

This photo shows a vast improvement over the early one when surveying took place........

and this one shows the new formation.....

This one shows Brinsley Lodge looking like a building site!...

While this last one shows the old site of the engine shed, now the new location for Quarry Siding

The digger is working on the plot for planting a Buddleia bush for the the Financial Dictator / General Manager (a token gesture of "giving back" some of the garden during the works! - every little helps, after all, it's Stoneleigh soon!!)

It all looks very "ragged" at the moment but work should be finished well in time for the "growing season" to soften eveything down again.

Thanks for the comments guys, and thanks for following the thread so far.

Today started out as a good day - I managed to ballast the entire line - before being called upon my my friendly neighbour to help unblock his drain and then bail out, sponge, then mop his cellar!!!!

(Wish I had a cellar!!!!)

Anyhow here's some pic's of some sections done with a 1:2:2 Rowlands mix.
Some other, slightly less photogenic sections have been done with either a stronger mix or a straight cement / sharp sand concrete for durability.

This is now a nice sweeping reverse loop towards Loscoe - can't wait to see trains on this bit

The line through Codnor Wood. 16mm Fencing to go in and some rockery stone to hide the real life fence. (Also, there's a Killer Bunny somewhere in those woods! - no, this is not another "spot the Bunny" photo, I'm just stating a fact

There is one of those red eyed rabbits, and a guy with a shotgun, and a unicorn, somewhere in those woods

That's looking spot on, last photo is especially realistic, so pointless huts, or cottages, just plain track and some trees.

They're a right mixture of dwarf and slow growing conifers and box (which I seem to have quite a good strike rate with growing cuttings from existing "trees"

)
I just tend to keep an eye on them and give 'em a regular haircut, occasionally having a look at their general "shape" and giving them a prune.

I banished heathers quite a while ago - I had nowt but trouble with 'em.
My biggest disappointment has been "Baby's Tears" - I'v got quite a bit in different spots but it always dies right back in winter and doesn't always come back with the same coverage each year

NEARLY THERE!

Can't believe I've done this

...................we got back from Stockport at around 4am Saturday morning, at 8am I was out with the paint and brushes and by the time we were leaving for Exeter at 11am I'd managed this!

We're back now (5.45am old time = 6.45am since the clocks have "sprung forward") and I've just posted the photo!!
The next posting will have the first trains on the new formation running the Spring Timetable

Still loads to do (isn't there always???) but I met the target date (JUST!)

The ballast is "Rowlands Mix" - a dry mix of 1 part cement, 2 parts sharp sand and 2 parts fine compost

Applied dry and brushed into place then soaked with a sprinkler attacment on the hose
