Word on the grapevine 2

Post by mhlr » Sat Feb 27, 2010 11:26 pm

Thought it may be of interest, I was reading on GSC forum that one of the lads had overheard a convosation about why one of the suppliers had launched a new Talylln coach, and the supplier in question replied "To go with the new Roundhouse Tom Rolt"... Sounds promising?

I sure wouldn't mind one  :P

no doubt the roundhouse one will be bigger than ours as it will be 45mm-able

Would make sense as the Roundhouse running gear fits in quite nicely on the Tom Rolt.

so it does ;) that looks like bloomfield engineering number 6, the later version with the longer angled lubricator drain.
Roundhouse will be releasing it as its a century of tom rolt this year!

That's interesting, because I heard elsewhere they were doing an FR Double Fairlie, using two Taliesin power bogies. I guess we shall see in due course.

Nope Roundhouse officially said that they would not be releasing a double fairly.
Tom Rolt has allways interested me. I wonder how one would look in dark blue with a white roof....

I want one, I want one, I want one, I want one. I want to get one. Was it an Irish loco originally? If so, my dad's Irish girlfriend will love it

Bord na Mona I think- IIRC it's actually a Barclay though (Andrew Barclay's of Kilmarnock), so Scottish built- but it worked in Ireland certainly.

Yeah, but lots of organisations say their not going to do something, and then end up doing it.

The government for example.

I've always liked 'Tom Rolt', there again I seem to prefer locos which are built like brick s**t houses! I'd definitely buy one if they do release it.
