I wouldn't argue with that - MDLR locos are all black - steam locos lined out - PW Dept stock in London Underground maroon (in actual fact, IP Engineering EeeZee / Lollypop Farm items)

I would agree too At the moment, the Westwood & Loscoe is a "preserved line" and so has a bit of a scatter gun approach to loco and rolling stock styles and liveries.

I woud agree with this, although if a prototype loco was among the fleet I would want to paint it in the prototypical livery. But that's just me!

That's a kinda cross between MHLR Blue and DVLR Blue!! Not quite as light as MHLR, and not quite as dark as DVLR.

Hmm, right. Taking a quick look at River Alde in my delirious state I suddenly had an idea. Why not put a Garrett style canopy above the cab and maybe a little way down the boiler - Garrett tractor style?
The loco would have been made by Garrett in their near by factory in Leiston (where Sirapite is) so I thought why not?
Here are some pictures of Garrett engines with and with out canopies for you to muse over. If well executed I think it could look rather smart. Would be completely removable of course.

Been doing a bit of thinking and I reran the canopy would look rather interesting. It will be LASER cut (of course) and completely removable. I will need to add some safety valve pipes up to the roof which I think would look smashing!

Right, I've made the safety valve tubes to take the steam up and out above the canopy. They are a little tall and will be cut down but I am rather pleased with them

Liking the safety valve mod Mr Bond. Looking forward to seeing the canopy; it'll make a nice change from the usual "US logging line" wood and corrugated steel affairs. Your plan is much more in keeping with the loco.

I have been doing a little soldering today.
I have made up one of the two slanty tool boxes for River Deben seen here...

And also a whistle which is really nice and low.



The tool box is a little on the squaggle but nothing a pair of pliers can't sort out! I'll try and get a sample noise of the whistle up here for you to hear.
