Very nice! I'd of had a steam up, but my aunts husband got me out driving his boat at 40mph up the Helford River... My face is frozen.

I'm quite immune to the cold after living in deepest wettest wales for 9 years, apart from my index finger on my right hand, somehow I lost all feeling to it, but the others were fine!

Your edrig seems to have a big problem with traction and youv mentioned that you have a very steep garden.

why not sell the Edrig and buy a regner? their perfect for lines like yours. slow,steady and they dont run away on inclines/declines.

Prefer Edrig really, I find it more fun to have something thats annoying! :lol:

She didn't slip as much today, as the gradient was a lot less steep than the other time, (but somehow still managed to cover herself in oil!

More work for me to do!)

Although regenrs are nice (i wouldn't mind one

), theres someting bout edrigs that catch your eye (well for me any where). I saw edrig and had a sudden urge i had to get one, unlike caradocs which bore me.

Same here really! I didn't like the looks of the Caradoc!

yes if I was a 16mm scale person and saw what looked like a cinder block on 4 wheels comming down the track it would scertainly catch my attention to.

I think it's the cab. The open cab on edrig makes it look more narrow gauge (ish) than caradocs full cab. I think this is important since they are very chunky/large.
Actually it's massive compared to anything else i have.

I had a hell of a shock when I first stood Edrig by the mamods!

I think it may be becuase of the cab as well, there just something quite odd but nice about it at the same time!

Going back to Pauly's thing about Regners, yes, they are good on hills, but still don't solve the traction problem, infact, Edrig's probably better on slippy rails as there's more weight over the wheels.

Well when there's snow, ice, water and a LOT of oil on the track I think weight really is a better, I am also currently working on a Vid really quickly so I can publish it tomorrow!

Yes edrigs do weigh a lot, Mine struggled on almost flat ground but there was ice, snow and oil on the track. So i turned the regulater up a bit and it went. A regner would be could still (it's a steam engine and simalar price to edrig)

Must admit I'm tempted to put a bit of weight in mine, I was wondering if anyone else had- this is after reading a thread on another forum comparing a Mortimer to a RH VoR, the VoR is better on icy rails with 28- odd axles on apparently

but a Caradoc would have looked better, Edrig is 'orrible!

I don't know why you'd want to fill an Edrig with lead, you wouldn't be able to pick it up

And it would ruin the track bed

It would also look silly a 'little' 0-4-0 pulling a train the length a Garratt would be likely to haul!
