Summer evening at the SLR (south)

Post by laalratty » Sat Jul 04, 2009 10:56 am

Another of the Morecambe area's Friday evening steamups was held last night at Pedro de Hooton's Silverdale Light Railway (south), the well engineered section of the Silverdale Light Railway

"Lady" Kittiwake crosses the trestle bridge beside the pond. It looks like i'm the only person to think the new addition of the bunker dosn't look quite right

A regular performer at steamups at the moment is David William from the LMS, and here it is again
Image
The SLR south is the one Morecambe line Taliesin hadn't visited, but as you can see this was sorted out

A Katie, visiting from the Ingleton Mountain Railway. The train was using the new magnet couplers available from Timpdon electronics, however they did not work very well, often coming uncoupled even with only a 3 coach train. The strength of them is very good, however it appears that they are not strong enough to take the jerks you get from a steam loco. I will be visiting the IMR on Monday, with SLRmidge and LMSjools.

Double headed Jacks, with Aston leading Scrumpy Jack. Aston was on the front cover of the May 2008 edition of 16mm today.

Finally a video of Kittiwake charging the bank, and also recieving some "enthusiastic" banking from the Katie (which had dumped its train by accident)
Thanks to SLRpedro for a great evening
