What a magnificent model. It never ceases to amaze me what can be done with that plastikard stuff!

Railcar now complete, painted, weathered and lettered.

The curtains are washing cloth (a bit like J-cloth but without the indentations), soaked in watered-down PVA and then primed and painted (oil paint) to stiffen them a bit more..

I had a couple of goes at getting the transfers right (or rather not getting the transfers right) and in the end gave up and just painted the lettering on – not too bad as this is my first ever attempt (that I can remember) of doing lettering by hand.

I don’t think that I overdid the weathering, just toned down the paintwork a bit.

Next is playing on the FBGR, and taking some action shots, hopefully tomorrow.

Superb job!
You have captured that 'neglected' look admirably. Just enough to look like it is well used but not run down.
I do hope you will continue to show us how it should be done......

Fantastic. I´ve said this before but that looks ripe for a competition entry. Looking forward to the pics of it being run in.

I agree and I'm sure the MOTY display in 2015 would be the better for it being there.

Amazing, I thought when I first saw the pictures that they were castings!

Every thing went well, and it matches the SAR coaches wot I made some years ago (mostly in timber).

11thHour Tim - All interior ‘timber’ is Plasticard painted yellow then a thin uneven wash of browny colour to take the edge off the colour – no attempt was made to make it look like varnished timber.
