Slots for O rings are meant to be a certain percentage larger than the O rings.

You can put the bypass water back into the deliver pipe to pump.So you only need one pipe in the tank.

My theory for thread difference is the safety valve and whistle were taken from [the stationary engines] a old design and the dome was a new design?

You could put the gas tank in tender with a flexible pipe to loco.With the gas valve in tender[so if pipe splits you can turn gas off].

There's an O ring that seal the steam pipe in that nut on the tee piece.
