Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Amazing detail Peter. How did you do the gauges - are they hand painted somehow, or printed?

Re: December 2023 Gallery Entries thread
Fantastic, Andrew. I know here is not the place to discuss it, but are there thread/posts anywhere else on the forum where you discuss (a) how you rusted that tipper and (b) your approach to ballasting? Both looking phenomenal in this shot!

I must say, I liked the short one plenty, but I like the long one even more. And they look terrific assembled as a rake.
Good tip on the masonry paint testers!

I like them too. And I also listen to Sherlock Holmes while I model (Clive Merrison and Michael Williams). You’ve got me thinking now…Holmes and Watson figures? I don’t recall them solving any mysteries in North Wales, but Watson is always banging on about how there are cases that are too sensitive ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Sorry it's been a while... The summer's been a busy one, but I have been slowly plodding on with the Hudson Toastrack - and I can confirm that it works! I recommend not reading that post while actually drinking tea (if you want to keep your screen dry...)! Stunning work Andrew. As a fan of both toa...

Re: Garden Railway visit.
Afan visited the Moel Rhos on Sunday, you can see it from Tony's video but it really runs beautifully. Here's a couple of pics showing the flywheel and reverser. What they don't show - because I didn't get any pics of the other side - is there's a small knurled knob linked to the flywheel/crank whic...

Re: Interesting prototype
This is a prototype "electric locomotive" model-1082 made in Austria in 1932. The current flows in the following order: pantograph → transformer → rotary phase converter (converts single-phase AC to three-phase AC) → DC generator → DC motor. At first glance, I thought this was like the Sw...

Very envious of the couple sitting right at the front of the observation car with a superb view of Russell. Makes me wish I was 9cm tall.

Re: Quick build to run rolling stock ideas
I don't know about quick(!) but if you are looking for inspiration, I'd recommend having a look at Yr Hen Felin in gilfachphil's thread - it's a picturesque but compact inglenook.

Re: IP Engineering Jessie origins
I printed some cranks for a Jessie, which a friend was repairing for another friend. They worked fine in PLA. (Original steel conrods had survived but I don't see why 3D printed ones wouldn't work.) https://photos.simonwood.info/uploads/h/h/7/hh7xrynhca//2023/05/03/20230503143052-11ca83fa.png Sounds...

Isopropyl Alcohol rather than Indian Pale Ale. Both have their uses but it’s best not to mix them up.
