Re: Aces travels and steam ups

Thanks for the feedback guys. :) Filmed at my local club, some friends from the Guildford Model Engineering Society came to join us the following day after the Eeter show. They brought along their Darjeeling A class, coal fired B class and a couple of member ran their darj trains also. https://youtu...

Re: Aces travels and steam ups

Thanks. :)

For those of you who prefer the slower things in life, at the same time I filmed a nice selection of Regners pottering about at Pauly's.

Re: Aces travels and steam ups

Here is another video of a visit to Pauly's line last October, a little late! I noticed that this video was not ever made public when I published.

Re: Freelance Coach Rake of the RHLR

Have you ever heard the saying 'Better late than never?', well here is the former part of that saying. The last was that I had bought a directors coach from Brandbright, This was before they closed for a couple of years and was taken over earlier this year (2017) by someone new. Here is the photo ac...

Re: Aces travels and steam ups

THanks guys, good to be back. :D

Another Jaunt to Wales, just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Met up with David Mees and David Williams from GR magazine who was reviewing Lilla. I managed to capture some footage, its been hard to sit on this!

Aces travels and steam ups

I have to apologise for my neglect on this forum, life and general business gets in the way sometimes, and with the convenience of facebook, it is easy to forget your roots sometimes. I have made many videos in the past 12 months of where I've been and what I have been up to. I shall pop them on thi...

Ahh, I see. Not seen a Forney in the flesh before. The cylinders on the Argyll are the same size as the Atlantic, the valve chests on the Argyll were a trial exercise by roundhouse and proved to be unsuccessful - as I found out first hand! It is very difficult to accurately set the timing inside the...

Thanks Dan, no the Argyll is the standard slide valve, walsharts valve gear. Near identical to the Atlantic. Wasn't aware of a piston valve roundhouse loco?

Great choice of loco and colour scheme! :) I've just had both mine back from Mat Acton from being lined. Here is a photo of my locos taken by Mat Acton before delivery. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae350/pingu_turbo/Live%20Steam/Roundhuse%20Argyll/24AF7369-F3D8-450B-A0F7-0FED3B54C96D_zps7tkjan...

I have an r/c'ed version of the gattett, but not with me right now. Probably the best person is to speak or send your loco to Dave Mees, he knows those things inside out!

It goes without saying you need a decent gas pipe. I use a silicone braided type, as you see in my image. It's a bloody tight fit over 1/8" pipe nipples so requires no clamp.

Gas tank on the Darj D has the exhaust pipe from the rear engine unit coiled under it to slightly warm it, works well.

Apologies for the late entry here! Arthur, in short yes the gas tank in a tender works. I have recently rebuilt my locomotive 'Titan' into using a swift sixteen tender from a MSS one (for proportion reasons). The gas tank has always lived in a tender in this loco and I have never had any issues with...

Haha, you've sussed me out! :D Yes I love tram engines and I'd like to put another one in the fleet. I've been checking out the commercially available power units from the main manufacturers and I have come to a conclusion as to what it isn't going to be. As nice a unit as the accucraft one is, it's...

Ace Engineering Works - Tram project Y6

Hi all, a few years ago you may remember I set myself the task of building a J70 LNER tram. See original build thread: http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/about62516.html http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae350/pingu_turbo/Live%20Steam/Tram%20project/DSCF6469_zps7d76163b.jpg It was not a 'scale' mode...

I just need a pair of frames now and I can put the chassis together. :)
