Re: A boiler for Ellie.
Looks very professionally made. Looking forward to seeing the finished loco! And a chain drive Ellie - that's an interesting take on the design

That must have been a treat! Certainly a bit bigger than what we're used to!
Did the boiler test go OK?

Naive battery questions
Hi folks, I've got an old Novo (Big Big) 0-4-0 chassis knocking around that I'm planning to make a little loco out of. Originally thought about doing something steam outline, but in the end, sent off for a HGLW 'Gordon' diesel body kit (excellent value by the looks of it) which'll form a quick build...

Mamod/MSS loco cylinders / reversing valve NO LONGER NEEDED
Hi folks, wondered if anyone has any Mamod / MSS loco cylinders or reversing valve lying around - perhaps as a result of fitting upgraded parts to your loco? I'm looking to use these in my next loco project (an improved version of the SP2 and Meccano based contraption currently in the works). If you...

I'm really enjoying this build, Garethh. I've been looking at a few completed 'Projects' on Youtube and they seem like really nice runners too.

Re: Mamod SP2 stationary engine loco conversion
Many thanks, both of you. I actually do have a drill press, but on inspection I don't think my table clamp (Clarke) is good enough for precision work. One of the jaws (the moving one) has some up-and-down movement in it, meaning when a part is clamped in it, one edge is lifted up slightly, which may...

Cracking loco, looks great, you'd never know it was plasticard! What sort of paint did you use, and how did you do the rust?

Re: Mamod SP2 stationary engine loco conversion
So finally we are up and running. I've attached a couple of photos for 'proof'! It ran well with the wheels off the ground, and on the track too, although only on the short section on my workbench. I'll set up a loop at the weekend to test properly. Next up is the firebox and bodywork - need to do s...

Re: Mamod SP2 stationary engine loco conversion
Hi folks, just thought I'd give a quick update on this project. It is still happening. After my burner-contructing success, I hit a few snags and lost the will to live (well, the will to carry on with this project) for a while. Still, you only learn to dig ditches by digging ditches as they say, so ...

Haven't been on here for ages, so this was certainly a pleasant surprise to come back to. Your woodwork is very skilled! Really looking forward to seeing this progress further.

Hi Dick,
Looks like a decent bit of engineering re the wheels and crank pins. Looking forward to seeing how this shapes up.
Cheers,
Tom

Scratchbuilding a 'Rye & Camber' style coach
Hi everyone, I'm planning my next scratchbuilding project - a 'Rye & Camber' style coach, to go with my Bagnall 2-4-0. It will ride on tried-and-tested IP engineering small bogies, and the rest will be contructed from good old plasticard sheets. The Rye and Camber only ever had two proper coache...
