This is a bargain price. Although in my case, if I buy the resin I will need to buy a printer to print it with. Which may add a bit to the total cost...!
(This will not necessarily stop me )

Re: Kerr Stewart 4420 - Live steam and 3D printing
Fantastic. How did you make the PTFE boiler feet? Turned on the lathe? Really interesting to see the bodywork. It is a strange looking loco, but while it's hard to deny it looks like it's had an encounter with the ugly stick, it's actually far more appealing to my eye than drawings suggested to me. ...

Re: Regner Vincent water refill frequency
I should have added I love my Konrad, the slow and steady running regardless of radius or gradient is exactly what I like, and I hope you'll enjoy your Vincent just as much! I should probably also add that I found mine a pain to light, especially at first when it suffered a blocked jet several times...

Re: Regner Vincent water refill frequency
I don't have a Vincent but I do have a Konrad. I started off without a top-up and with the supplied valve it certainly ran out of gas first. I was warned with the Ronson valve I fitted there could be more space in the tank and it was possible the water might run out. Now I have fitted a water top-up...

Re: 3D printing a smokebox
(a) Your smokebox looks stunning as it is, remarkable quality given you've done no tidying up! (b) Following with interest how 3D parts cope with heat on a live steamer; I am following in Trevor's footprints building his Kerr Stuart 4420 design which mixes 3D chassis and body with brass and copper m...

Re: Super-Micro servo
Simon, Many, with the smaller connector, will happily work from a '1S' Lithium battery. - Trying to drive them from three NiMH, does not tend to work, as they have a steeper slope as they discharge. The Lithium batteries tend to hold-up a lot better, in this respect. And they are smaller! I think t...

Re: Super-Micro servo
One other thing to look out for, with the newer micro-servo's and actuator's.. Many are designed to work with a '3.5V' supply, as they are designed for use with 3.7V '1S' Lithium batteries. This is a real advantage! The servos I have used required 4.8v so I needed to find space to stick 4 AAAs - no...

Perhaps a sort of half-way compromise would do? I have discovered this video since my first post idea.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VLtyr12yH0&list=FLt2u2Sk1gtE_Y4XHeoc1wpQ&index=6 and there is a lovely image of 'Tom Rolt' on the Talyllyn Railway under development. See at ... 3m32sec...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
I do. I always think the 33s look kind and friendly. It's possible I'm a little soft... You have a point. There was a class 31 on the other end. Now there's a loco that looks like it got out of bed on the wrong side... https://photos.simonwood.info/_datas/h/h/7/hh7xrynhca/i/uploads/h/h/7/hh7xrynhca...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
I finally managed the pilgrimage to the Spa Valley Railway — between covid and cancelled and/or rescheduled holidays and travel — for a solitary orgy of Thumper noise and Harvey’s Best Bitter. Great railway, great beer. I was last there last September when there was a Class 33 and I picked up a s/h...

Hi Phil, I did put a clip on Twitter a while back but I plan to get some better footage sorted soon and put it on YouTube: https://twitter.com/bwlrpeter/status/1525859551521783812?s=21&t=fAyJMkbs5l5shAtK3AoPJw Beautiful looking loco and from that clip and amazing runner. I do enjoy running manu...

Re: A row of quarry workers cottages
The roof profile now looks a lot better: To my eye, it's not just the roof looking better - somehow, at least from the photos, it makes the doors look better proportioned too. Perhaps because, relative to the roof height, they are no longer as tall...? Just as an aside I have painted the walls with...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
Glad some new rivets are on the way. While I'm sure we'd have been happy to have a go, I don't think PLA or ABS would have matched the nylon (resin maybe...?) Admire your patience drilling them all out... but the effort will be worthwhile; having seen the model for real it is going to shape up to be...
