I went to the Elsecar Garden Railway show at the weekend and came home with a new Roundhouse Bertie. To the OVLR it will be No 11. After running R/C live steam and battery locos and free running battery locos, No 11 is a different thing altogether. I am still on the very steep part of the learning c...

Love the look of that little engine. Where did it come from and what powers it? The small green loco is a Garden Railway Specialist generic Hunslet kit with their 0-4-0 chassis which can be bought with either 45mm or 32mm gauge. The chassis has a MFA como motor . My loco is battery powered 10 AA re...

I am interested. I use peco O gauge fine scale track in the shed as sidings and at
the moment I solder a short section of SM 32 track to the finescale track
making sure that the inside and tops are flush with each other.

I have just looked at Andy's site http://andyquirot.co/sales/loco-sound-board/ It looks as if the power in should not be a contant 12v but the variable voltage being used to control the speed of the loco. There is also a set up process, one just listening to the sound and one where a specific voltag...

Something isn't right here . If you are putting 12v across an 8 ohm speaker there will be a 1.5 amp current (basic ohms law) and it will get warm (Batteries will not last too long either). If the speaker is connected to the a sound unit that is putting 12 v across the speaker there may be something ...

I found that after I had decided to go 32mm that there were no very local groups that used 32mm. One thing I had hoped to do was visit other railways, this is now only possible with a relatively long car journey. I had also hoped that there would be a local group of the 16 mm Association but to my g...

Rik[/quote] You're too kind Rik, but this really wouldn't have happened without your advice and oh so helpful blogs.:) The steeple cab loco is designed to accommodate 2 AA batteries also. The problem is that with the space being split effectively into 2 small compartments, with the motor in the midd...

Looks lovely. I will need to build one. Draw the mortar courses on the inside of the shuttering with a Hot Weld Gl...
